Assistant Senate Majority Leader Richard Durbin endorses Bill Foster for IL-14

“As a scientist and businessman, Bill Foster will be a leading voice for practical, common sense solutions in Congress.“

Geneva, IL – Today Assistant Senate Majority Leader Richard J. Durbin announced his endorsement of businessman and scientist Bill Foster for the special election to replace Dennis Hastert in the IL-14th Congressional District.

"As a scientist and businessman, Bill Foster will be a voice for common sense solutions in Congress. His diverse background, understanding of the community and commitment to changing the course of this country make him the best choice for voters in the 14th District. I'm proud to lend him my support and I look forward to working with Bill Foster to bring an end to the war in Iraq, pass affordable healthcare for all Americans and end our dependence on foreign oil," said Durbin.

Foster was pleased to have earned Senator Durbin's support.

"Illinois families have no bigger champion than Senator Durbin and I am extraordinarily grateful for his support. Senator Durbin knows firsthand how deeply voters want change in Washington and I look forward to giving the voters in the 14th a new voice in the House of Representatives – one that is based on facts, reason, compassion and problem solving rather than partisan bickering," said Foster. "When voters see Senator Durbin giving his seal of approval, they know that I'll work hard for their interests every day in Congress," he ended.

Foster has put together a remarkable string of support in addition to Senator Durbin. He has earned the support of Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, Comptroller Dan Hynes, Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL-17), Mayor James Burke of Ronald Reagan's hometown of Dixon, IL, and 23 Nobel Prize Winners - making Foster the clear frontrunner in the Democratic nomination for the IL-14th and the special election.

Bill Foster of Geneva, Illinois is a successful businessman and scientist running for Congress to change course in Iraq and here at home. At 19, he and his brother Fred started Electronic Theatre Controls from scratch – today a world-wide leader in the theater lighting industry. A Harvard trained PhD in Physics, he lived for 22 years in the Fox Valley while working on science's most difficult problems at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory where he was involved in the discovery of the top quark and the construction and operation of major experiments and accelerators. Bill's combination of business success, scientific accomplishment, and problem solving is needed in a Congress bogged down in partisan fighting, scandal and runaway spending.
